Chapter Summary

This front matter section of the book James the Just and Christian Origins contains a preface, abbreviations, and a list of contributors. The consultation on James, Jesus' brother, emerged out of interactive scholarship and discussion which has been pursued at Bard College over the past four years. Since 1996, a series of international meetings has focused on the relationship between Judaism and Christianity, especially during their formative periods. The itinerary and method of the consultation are described in the book, and the principal contributors have prepared their work for publication.
