The vast majority of older and newer boom keeps Joshua 5,13-15 for a fragment. The chapter discusses Joshua 5,13-15 as editorial introduction of the Jericho story. It presents an overview on the ideas provided for the adoption of an original beginning of the Jericho story into the field. Joshua 5,13-15 proved to be a late post-priestly insertion into the story of Joshua. The chapter discusses the meeting of Joshua and the calling of Moses.
