Chapter Summary

This chapter presents Editors' interview with Eugene B. Borowitz, which includes Borowitz's answers to the interviewer's questions, some of them are Borowitz' s view on the relationship or difference between Jewish philosophy and Jewish theology, the disappointment with rationalist philosophy, the critique of Jewish rationalism, religious thought, spirituality, secular Jewish existence, Zionism, and Jewish life in Israel. The author regularly sent money to try to make it possible for Liberal Judaism in the State of Israel to grow and spread and eventually reach out and teach. The author's impression was that it was making very slow, but steady strides forward. He, considering all the other things that the State of Israel has to confront, understands why the everyday realities tend to overwhelm the questions of spirit and sensibility and the like.
