From Shandong to Shanxi Province: A Reflection on the Reform of School Teaching in Primary and Middle Schools

Chapter Summary

This chapter reflects on the underlying mechanism of the school teaching reform during the past ten years. Shandong has been a key province in advancing standardized education. Dulangkou Middle School is the most representative model for reform in Shandong. The reform in Dulangkou Middle School did transform "teaching" to "learning". The reform in Shanxi province started from a few school and spread over the whole area. Zezhou No. One Middle School in Shanxi Jin City acquired courage in reform from Dulangkou High School. The school teaching reform gradually transformed the traditional classroom teaching model and information technology has become an important supplementary learning method for students. More importantly, problem-based learning model will change children's learning space and extend their learning area to community and society. Meanwhile, self-learning will become common among students.
