Chapter Summary

This front matter section of the book Art and Architecture in Ladakh: Cross-Cultural Transmissions in the Himalayas and Karakoram contains a list of contents, a list of contributors, and a list of illustrations. The book is largely drawn from contributions to the 13th, 14th and 15th International Association for Ladakh Studies (IALS) conferences in 2007, 2009 and 2011, and celebrates the region's artistic and architectural inheritance. The history of Ladakh's art and architecture entered a new phase after the fall of the Tibetan empire in the mid-ninth century and the establishment of a Tibetan dynasty in western Tibet, known as Ngari Korsum.

Keywords: International Association for Ladakh Studies (IALS); Ngari Korsum; Tibetan dynasty
