Chapter Summary

The orthographic data from Chapter 3 are presented in this appendix, divided by Gospel, by vowel and consonant variation, and displayed in tabular format. In the tables that follow, some of the words with variant spellings in Alexandrinus that also appear in normalized form are marked with an asterisk. Words that have both vowel and consonant variations are marked with to signify that the word or words occur in both tables. The data presented in the appendix are the results of a comparison of two vocabulary lists generated from the author transcription of Alexandrinus and the normalized Byzantine text recorded by Robinson and Pierpont. The electronic methods used to sort and compare the data do not guarantee that these lists are exhaustive, yet they represent a nearly complete list of orthographic differences found in Alexandrinus.

Keywords: Alexandrinus; Byzantine text; Gospel; orthographic data; Pierpont; Robinson
