Chapter Summary

This bibliography presents a list of reference books and articles relevant to the study of halakha in Paul. Scholarship on Paul has been based on three traditional assumptions: (1) the centre of his thought is a polemic against the Law; (2) the Law for him no longer had a practical meaning; and (3) ancient Jewish literature is no source for explaining his letters. The three assumptions have, in varying forms and combinations, been guiding the perception and judgment of scholars from the beginnings of historical criticism to the present day.
