Chapter Summary

This chapter presents an overview on the literary analysis of Wisdom of Amenemope. In the thirty years that have passed since the publication of the late Egyptian wisdom book of Amenemope it is only very little has been done to the literary analysis of this curious work. Various signs indicate that Amenemope has incorporated already by another designed material. The special property of the individual Amenemope can be easily recognized based on the comparison with the normal content of the earlier Egyptian wisdom literature. The other Egyptian book of wisdom coincides with the text of certain portions in Amenemope. The Egyptian wisdom book can be ascertainable with respect to a literary effect based on the borders of Egypt addition. Amenemope teaches the explicit reference to the biblical saying.
