Chapter Summary

This front matter section of the book An Index to Aquila contains the table of contents and the introduction, and a list of abbreviations. The function of this Index to Aquila's version of the Bible is to assist in the major task of obtaining a pre-Massoretic Hebrew text of the Old Testament. To achieve this, we must first be certain that we have a reasonably accurate Septuagint text, and this in turn involves us in the task of piercing the veil which divides the period of extant uncial manuscripts of the Greek Old Testament from the Septuagint period itself.

Keywords: Greek Old Testament; pre-Massoretic Hebrew text
