Chapter Summary

This front matter section of the book Congress Volume: Rome 1968 contains the table of contents. The study of the history of religion, based on the results of archaeology and Semitic linguistics, has helped considerably to modify our views concerning Israel and the Old Testament. This was made possible by the comparative study of religion. The investigation of the new material ran more or less the same course as the study of the earlier Babylonian world. Keywords: earlier Babylonian world; historico-religious methods; Israel; Old Testament; semitic linguistics
