Chapter Summary

A recent note from L.D.Levinegives us a new list of tributary kings found on a stele of Tiglath Pileser III, of Iranian origin. The mention of Tyr in relation to Damascus and Samaria onfragmentary inscription of Nimrud (ND).4301and their omission from the list of 728, given previous lists of what the authors know about the campaigns of 734-732, are two very significant facts.Tyr has taken a rather important part in the coalition 735 to be considered by Tiglath Pileser III in the same way that the Syrian-allied Ephraim treated very much as if not Samaria as Damascus. The original text of the chapter is in French.

Keywords: fragmentary inscription of Nimrud; Iranian origin; L.D.Levine; Tiglath Pileser III; tributary kings; Tyr
