Chapter Summary

This chapter presents a list of tables, which illustrate the passages that were in Dtr's History and were added later according to the author's analysis. Dtr probably had sources for much of the material in his History (contrast 1 Kgs 16:1-4 where he apparently had no narrative about Jehu's encounter with Baasha). However, he has so thoroughly rewritten them that in most cases it is impossible to isolate the pre-Dtr level with any degree of certainty. An exception is the account of Jehu's revolt in 2 Kings 9-10 where Dtr's frequent additions are fairly evident so that the older story can be isolated. The references given are those in the MT. It should also be recalled that the MT's chronology and placement of certain passages in Kings are secondary vis-à-vis the Old Greek.

Keywords: Dtr's frequent additions; Dtr's History; Jehu's revolt; MT's chronology; Old Greek
