Chapter Summary

Peter van Maastricht has a reference to the Panoplia Dogmatike which is interesting for one because it coincided with the time when the Orthodox were already making efforts to publish the Panoplia. In Theoretico-practico theologia, he dedicates a separate section of this book the divine dispensation. Zygadenos is mentioned as an author of the Panoplia and a treatise against the Latin's, most probably referring to the chapter Against the Latins. The references to Zygadenos among the Protestant authors which have collected so far display limited interest in the Panoplia. The Panoplia was just a small part of all the Patristic authors and books discussed by Catholics and Protestants. Actually, the Catholic interpretation of the Eucharistic question in the Panoplia became interesting not for the Protestant but for the Orthodox. This is most evident in the latest references to the Panoplia which were related to the Jansenist controversy.
