Chapter Summary

This index presents a list of terms and concepts that occur in the book The Raven and the Falcon. Arabic lexicographers provided further chronological definitions of each life stage without any reference to shayb (gray hair). In such definitions shabāb was used for youth and shaykhūkha for old age, and the two terms are still used in modern Arabic in the same sense.

Keywords: Arabic lexicographers; shabāb; shayb; shaykhūkha
