Chapter Summary

This bibliography presents a list of selected works relevant to the discussion of the Jewish Merkavah mysticism. The book Apocalyptic and Merkavah Mysticism: Second, Revised Edition contains a description of Jewish Merkavah ("Divine Chariot") mysticism, its history, structure, and main thematic features. The term Merkavah mysticism derives from the Hebrew term Maʿaseh Merkavah ("The Work of the Divine Chariot"), which usually means the mystical explication of the first chapter of the Book of Ezekiel. The book has two parts. The first part contains an analysis of the major features of the Merkavah tradition. In the second part, a detailed description is given of all the known Hekhalot writings.

Keywords: Book of Ezekiel; Divine Chariot; Hekhalot writings; Jewish Merkavah mysticism
