Chapter Summary

This appendix of the book Shanghai Filmmaking: Crossing Borders, Connecting to the Globe, 1922-1938 presents a list of the Mingxing managers, screenwriters, directors, and publicists and information about their posts and the time periods when they worked for Mingxing. The book examines the product, answering the question what is seen, how and why. Closely related to the master narrative of Chinese film history, a number of Mingxing films, mostly the so-called Left-wing films, have become classics and received much academic attention.
