The book Sacred Precincts: The Religious Architecture of Non-Muslim Communities across the Islamic World explores the changing status of non-Muslims in predominantly Islamic societies from its early days and its complex impacts on the preservation and formation of non-Muslim sacred sites. It covers a vast chronological, geographical, and cultural spectrum, and some core issues and themes within interreligious and architectural phenomena in the Islamic world. The book also presents case studies on churches and synagogues in Iran, Turkey, Cyprus, Egypt, Iraq, Tunisia, Morocco and Malta, and on sacred sites in Nigeria, Mali, and the Gambia.
