Chapter Summary

This introductory chapter presents an overview of the book The Finnish Civil War 1918: History, Memory, Legacy, which provides the readers with a unique insight into the history of the war-torn society, remembrance and the politics of memory of the conflict, the gradual healing process, the various interpretations, civil-war inspired fiction, and even the latest revisits of the almost 100-year-old legacy. The book is divided into three parts.
