Chapter Summary

This chapter of the book A Companion to Latin Greece presents the chronological table relevant to the study of the Latin Greece. The book was conceived as an introduction to the field of study of Latin Greece and an overview of the essential aspects of the societies that emerged in the aftermath of the Fourth Crusade with an emphasis on their social, religious and political institutions. It provides the reader with a sampler of the directions in which the study of the Latin states of Romania has been moving in the last, say, 30 years. The book deals with one of the key factors affecting the administration and social organisation of any medieval state, that is, the distribution of landed estates.

Keywords: Autumn-late summer; Constantinople; Fourth Crusade; Latin Greece; political institution
