Chapter Summary

The ‘Translation Event’ is the next phase. Here the individual Operational Norms gathered in the previous phase provide a foundation for making statements about the circumstances of the translation called, ‘Preliminary Norms’. This phase entails an investigation of translating policy, including the choice of source text(s), as well as a consideration of the directness of translation. The Hebrew source text behind P-Hosea was very similar to proto-MT, with minor differences mostly limited to graphic errors.
