Chapter Summary

This index presents a list of ancient sources that occur in the book . The ancient sources are listed from Old and New Testament, ancient Christian writings, and Greek and Latin writings. It contains a list of recent volumes in the book Supplements to Novum Testamentum. Much current Johannine study reflects a common opinion regarding the origins and historical context of the Gospel of John. Current trends place the Gospel of John against the backdrop of the Dead Sea Scrolls and other contemporary Judaisms, rather than against the broader Greco-Roman world. The effort to multiply generic associations beyond the testament is intimately connected to the theme of presence in absence.

Keywords: Latin writings; New Testament; Supplements to Novum Testamentum
