Chapter Summary

This index presents a list of biblical references relevant to the discussion of Gideon, Abimelech and Jephthah accounts. The main part of each of these accounts focuses on the description of the deliverance and of the figure of the judge-deliverer. These three accounts were selected because they deal above all with the same subject: the extent to which the protagonist is suited to the role of leader. In the introduction to the Jephthah account, the princes of Gilead propose that whosoever among them leads them in their war will be head over all the inhabitants of Gilead.

Keywords: Abimelech account; Gideon account; Gilead; Jephthah account
