The incidence of myxochory in four plant communities south of Vienna (Austria) was investigated. The results show that the frequency of myxochory depends on habitat and climatic conditions. Data were taken from two sources: weather stations, and ecological indicator values of the plants in each community. Drier habitats had both a greater proportion of myxochorous species and a greater percentage of ground covered by them. Therefore it is obvious that myxochory is of almost the same importance within arid habitats in the temperate region as in arid climate regions.
