The Bibliothèque nationale et universitaire de Strasbourg contains in its collection of Sanskrit manuscripts a small anonymous work dating from the 19th century with the title: “Böhtlingk Indische Sprüche. Ordre alphabétique des ouvrages d'où les maximes sont tirées.” The present study determines the precise date of this work and identifies its author as Georges-Louis Leblois (1825–1898), minister of the protestant Temple-Neuf de Strasbourg.
