A SEM study of the Cephalobidae material from the Krakatau islands showed that Acrobelinae and Cephalobinae have a comparable head structure and so are synonymised. A diagram of the "en-face" view of the Cephalobinae is proposed as is a diagnosis of about ten genera based on SEM. Measurements, head structure and other morphological features are described and compared for two Cephalobus species, two Heterocephalobus species, Acrobeloides nanus, Cervidellus neftasiensis, Acrobeles singulus, Macrolaimellus longicauda, Seleborca mariannae and Teratolobus regulus.
