The genus Platyscapa Motschoulsky (1864) is recognized and a former identification with Waterstoniella Grandi rectified, with species: the type P. frontalis Motschoulsky (type-specimen seen, but not distinguished from the following species), Blastophaga quadraticeps Mayr, P. awekei spec. nov. (Ethiopia, host Ficus salicifolia Vahl), Blastophaga tjahela Abdurahiman & Joseph, P. etiennei spec. nov. (Réunion, host Ficus lucens Cordem.), Blastophaga ishiiana Grandi, B. coronata Grandi, and P. fischeri spec. nov. (Philippines, host Ficus caulocarpa Miq.). The record by MAYER (1882) of Ficus salicifolia as the host for Elisabethiella socotrensis (Mayr), probably was based on a mistake: the wasp species is now recorded from Ficus vasta Forsk. (Ethiopia). The following synonymies are suggested: Blastophaga arnottiana Joseph (1953) = Platyscapa quadraticeps (Mayr, 1885) ; Terastiozoon incompletum Joseph (1959) = Otitesella digitata Westwood (1883). Otitesella serrata remains classified with the species-group of 0. digitata Westwood.
