Motion-picture records of two species of European labrid fishes feeding on live shrimps in a tank show a small adduction of the jaws and suspensoria during the opening of the mouth with a prominent premaxillary protrusion. This observation and the anatomical basis for these movements are in accordance with a theoretical kinematic jaw-model, designed by applying a deductive methodology. An elaborate presentation is in preparation.
