The Afaka script is an indigenous syllabic script designed in the early 20th c. Ndjuka is the only creole language in the world with its own script. The 19 Kago texts (1920-30) that are transcribed, translated, and explained here offer much material for the study of syllabic scripts and Maroon societies.
