A dialogue between two psychologists, Dr. East and Dr. West, discusses: (a) ethnocentric bias and the social consequences, stereotyping in particular, of ethnicity and cross-cultural research; (b) the responsibility Asian psychologists should assume for their lack of organization and research efforts, while recognizing that they may be subject to severe sociopolitical constraints ; (c) prejudice and ideology: East and West; (d) Colonialism and its psychological consequences ; (e) Asian collective identity; and (f) social change as a precondition for desirable psychological changes to occur.
