Le bilan du programme de marquage des tortues vertes Chelonia mydas dans l'Océan Sud-Ouest s'établit ainsi: Europa (1970-1985) 4 843 marquages, 15 recaptures internationales; Tromelin (1971-1984) 3 766 marquages, 12 recaptures internationales. Ces vingt-sept recaptures montrent un encerclement total de Madagascar par les femelles marquées sur les deux sites de ponte. Un résultat original est le changement de site par une femelle.
