Variation in the African marbled tree snake, Dipsadoboa aulica, has been analyzed within the framework of a review of the whole genus. Three forms are most readily distinguished on the basis of coloration and on internal morphology. Within each form a gradual colour change takes place from juveniles to adults. The following taxonomic changes are proposed:
