Abstract. The spermatogenic cycles of Telmatobius laticeps and T. pisanoi are analyzed histologically using a new numerical method. Results indicate that in both species spermatogenesis does not proceed at a cons- tant rate. Two periods are defined: one of "spermatogenic activity", that is observed in T. laticeps from December through April, and in T. pisanoi from December through June; the othcr period, of "spermatogenic rest", is observed from June through October in the first species, and from August through October in the second.
