[Limnoria mazzellae sp. nov. (Isopoda, Limnoriidae) was collected in the western Mediterranean and the Adriatic Sea near Italy, from the scales of the seagrass Posidonia oceanica. This finding brings to five the number of Limnoria species known to inhabit and bore seagrasses. L. mazzellae is most similar in appearance to the wood borer L. tuberculata Sowinsky, 1884.
