An illustrated description of a new species, Phyllodiaptomus surinensis n. sp. from two localities in Surin Province, northeast Thailand, is presented. It belongs to the blanci-group within Phyllodiaptomus Kiefer, 1936 and is most closely related to P.tunguidus Shen & Tai, 1964 from China and to the Thai endemic P.christineae Dumont, Reddy & Sanoamuang, 1996. The new species is rare in occurrence and has been recorded from irrigation canals together with 5-6 species of diaptomid copepods.
