[A new genus and species, Foredromia rostrata, is described from shallow waters of Singapore and Indonesia. The new genus is characterized by a carapace length exceeding width, well developed rostrum, distinct supraorbital notch, tuberculate subhepatic area and chelipeds and walking legs with well developed tubercles. Its abdominal locking mechanism is novel and involves the coxae of both the chelipeds and first pair of walking legs, and the last abdominal somite plus the telson. The new genus belongs to a group that includes Desmodromia, Epipedodromia and Homalodromia. A key is provided to separate the species of these genera.

A new genus and species, Foredromia rostrata, is described from shallow waters of Singapore and Indonesia.
