[A new species of xanthid crab of the genus Paramedaeus Guinot, 1967, is described, figured and named in honour of Professor Jacques Forest having become an octogenarian. The new species is closely allied to Paramedaeus planifrons (Sakai, 1965) but differs markedly in leg and carapace features. Notes on two other xanthid species, Paramedaeus simplex (A. Milne-Edwards, 1873) and Metaxanthops acutus Serène, 1984, from New Caledonia are also provided.

Une espèce nouvelle du genre Paramedaeus Guinot, 1967, est décrite, figurée et nommée en l'honneur du Professeur Jacques Forest qui va avoir 80 ans. Cette espéce nouvelle est proche de Paramedaeus planifrons (Sakai, 1965) mais en diffère nettement par les péréiopodes et la carapace. Quelques notes sur deux autres espèces de la famille Xanthidae, Paramedaeus simplex (A.
