[An adult specimen of Euchirograpsus liguricus H. Milne Edwards, 1853 has been found in the Straits of Messina (central Mediterranean Sea), representing the second record in that area after more than a century. The specimen was found associated with the kelp, Phyllariopsis purpurascens, which may be a favourite habitat for this species. The morphology is briefly discussed, and the miscrosculpture of the carapace preliminarily described according to SEM observations.
