As a result of cladistic analyses involving fossil hoplocaridans, the palaeostomatopods emerge as paraphyletic. Consequently, the genus Archaeocaris requires a separate family, erected herein. À partir des résultats d'analyses cladistiques incluant les formes hoplocarides fossiles, les palaeostomatopodes émergent comme paraphylétiques. En conséquence le genre Archaeocaris nécessite la création d'une famille séparée, ce que nous faisonsici.
