[Three naupliar stages and the infective copepodid stage of Kroyeria elongata Pillai, 1967 are described based on free-living larvae reared from eggs detached from ovigerous females infecting the branchial lamellae of the white smoothhound, Mustelus griseus Pietschmann, 1908.

The nauplii and the infective copepodid of the Kroyeriidae are compared with those of Pennellidae and Caligidae. Among Siphonostomatoida parasitic on fish, K. elongata is the first representative known to have three naupliar stages in its life cycle.
