[Sandyella gen. nov. is erected for two eastern Pacific pontoniine shrimps, Chacella tricornuta Hendrickx, 1990 and Chacella mclaughlinae Li, 2006. The new genus can be clearly distinguished from all other pontoniine genera by the unique dorsal ornamentation of the carapace and the dorsal surface of the first three abdominal somites; the straight, unarmed, anterior margin of the carapace; and the greatly produced anterior distodorsal margin of the eyestalk.
