The third note in the series on the Lamippidae has a detailed description of the type species of the genus Lamippella, L. faurei Bouligand & Delamare. This parasite occurs in Alcyonium, Parerythropodium, and in Eunicella, Octocorals which are phyletically very distant from one another, yet the specimens do not show any morphological differences. It is not known whether the specimens exhibit, according to the host, specific differences of a biological, physiological or chemical nature, or whether they form an exception to the host specificity, which is rule in the Lamippidae. In the fourth note, the species Lamippe aciculifera, L. brementi and L. papillifera are shown to belong to one and the same species Lamippina aciculi f era, type of a genus established in a previous note, in which there is marked sexual dimorphism. Finally, it is shown that, although the rule of host specificity has few exceptions in the Lamippidae, no parallel evolution of the host species and the parasite could be demonstrated (note 5).
