The authors give an historical account of our knowledge to date of the following species: Orchestoidea fischeri (H. Milne-Edwards, 1830), Talorchestia quadrispinosa Barnard, 1962, and Talorchestia spinifera (E. Mateus, 1962), as well as data on their geographical distribution. Recent collections of Orchestia spinifera from Arcachon, for which locality this constitutes a new record, have enabled the authors to examine the species in detail and to refer it to the genus Talorchestia rather than to Orchestia,
