Diese Veröffentlichung behandelt die Biologie und das Verhalten von Alpheus frontalis H. Milne Edwards, 1837. Dieser Krebs ist in der littoralen Zone des Indo-West Pazifik und Roten Meeres weit verbreitet. Die Tiere weben Wohnröhren von den Algengattungen Oscillaria und Ceramium, welche an der Unterseite von Steinen befestigt werden. Die Röhren werden meist paarweise bewohnt. Besonders behandelt ist das Paar- und agonistische Verhalten. Ausserdem werden auch Experimente über die Webtechnik und die Futteraufnahme beschrieben.
