1. Gammarus pulex erkennt und vermeidet unzureichend durchsauerstofftes Wasser, und zwar bereits weit oberhalb kritischer Letalkonzentrationen. 2. Jüngere G. pulex verhalten sich indifferent gegenüber Wasser, welches 4 mg pro Liter oder mehr Sauerstoff enthält. 3. Die Reaktion auf Wasser mit geringem Sauerstoffgehalt wird beschleunigt oder verlangsamt durch einen Anstieg oder Abfall der Temperatur. 4. Gammariden reagieren außerordentlich intensiv auf Wasser mit geringem Sauerstoffgehalt und niedrigem pH. 5. G. pulex wählt Wasser mit sehr niedrigem pH zugunsten von Wasser mit sehr niedrigem Sauerstoffgehalt, wenn eine Auswahlmöglichkeit geboten wird.
