Die Gattung Cornigerius nom. nov. (pro Corniger Pengo, 1879, preocc.) unterscheidet sich von den anderen Polyphemidengattungen hauptsächlich durch die Appendices auf dem Kopf und lange kaudale Krallen. Die Gattung umfasst vier Arten: C. maeoticus (Pengo), vertreten durch Unterarten C. m. maeoticus im Asowschen Meer, C. m. bircus im Kaspischen Meer und forma (aberratio) horribilis in beiden Meeren; ferner C. arvidi n. sp. im Kaspischen Meer, C. bicornis (Zernov), 1901 erstmals von Zernov im Asowschen gefunden und jetzt vom Verfasser auch im Kaspischen Meer nachgewiesen und C. lacustris (Spandl), bisher nur aus einem See in der Türkei bekannt. C. arvidi wird hier neu beschrieben; für C. bicornis wird zum ersten Mal eine ausführliche Beschreibung mit einigen Abbildungen gegeben.
