Der Anostrake Chirocephalopsis bundyi transportiert aktiv Natrium-ionen durch ein sättigbares, intensitätslimitiertes System mit einer hohen ionischen Affinität. Diese Garnelen können bei weniger als 0,04 mmol Na/1 überleben und verfügen über eine maximale Natriumaufnahmekapazität von 6,68 ± SE 0,69 mmol Na/kg/hr in einer Lösung von 6 mmol/l. In niedrigeren Umwelt-Natrium-Konzentrationen ist die Aufnahme wesentlich geringer.
