Staurosoma, a genus of Copepoda parasitic in actinians, is recorded for the first time from the Red Sea (Eilat) and from a new host, Anthopleura stellula. Morphological study indicates that this parasite is identical to the European species, S. parasiticum Will, a rather surprising conclusion from a biogeographical point of view.
