In den Mägen der häufigen Ophiuriden Art Ophiocten bastatum (gesammelt mitten im Sommer in einigen tiefen Becken des "Gulf of Maine") machten pelagische Copepodenarten volumenmässig die grösste Fraktion der vorgefundenen Einheiten aus, nicht immer jedoch die grösste Anzahl von Einheiten. Die Copepodenarten waren Calanus finmarchicus, C. hyperboreus, Euchaeta norvegica und Metridia longa.
