Die nervenabsondernden (NS) Zellen der Amphipoden sind erstmals bei den Talitriden Talorchestia martensii und Orchestia platensis untersucht worden. Von T. martensii wurden vier Typen (A, B, C und D) der NS Zellen, von O. platensis drei Typen (a, β und D) beschrieben. Von den A- und α-Zellen tritt je eine in jeder circumoesophageal Commissure der zwei Arten auf. Die A-Zelle besitzt einen Nucleolus, während die α-Zelle zwei Nucleoli aufweist. Auch die B-Zelle hat einen Nucleolus, die β-Zelle zwei. Die C-Zelle von T. martensii fehlt bei O. platensis. Die genannten Zellen kommen in mannigfaltigen Verbindungen in verschiedenen Teilen des Nervensystems vor, aber die antennaren Lappen enthalten keine NS Zellen.
