Une nouvelle espèce d'Anostracé halobionte, Parartemia minuta sp. nov. est décrite du lac Buchanan, Queensland, Australie. Les variations de longueur à l'intérieur de l'espèce sont discutées et quelques commentaires préliminaires sont présentés à propos de son écologie. La distribution des huit espèces décrites de Parartemia est relevée; la présence de ce genre si loin au nord jette quelques doutes sur l'existence d'Artemia salina en Australie.
